Come Celebrate my 40th birthday!
Join me in celebrating my 40th birthday at Volkfest in my hometown of Stuttgart, Germany
Prost!
The What, When, and Where
Please join me in celebrating my 40th birthday at Volksfest (or as the Americans would call it, Octoberfest) in my hometown of Stuttgart, Germany. This will be the 177th annual Volksfest!
The birthday festivities will provide you with two days of fun. I have prepaid for piles of food and almost 500 liters of beer (about 1,400 cans) so come hungry and thirsty!
The planned two day itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Saturday 09/28/2024
3:30pm: Meet at the Steigenberger Hotel Stuttgart, then head to the festival as a group
4:30pm: Tent opens
Dinner and party until late
Note: this is strictly an 18+ event as the tent does not allow any minors in the evening
Day 2: Sunday 09/28/2024
11:30am: Meet at the Steigenberger and once again head to the fairgrounds together
12:00 - 4:00pm: Lunch at the Klauss & Klauss Dinkelacker-Festzelt
Kids are welcome

Frequently Asked Questions:
Where should I stay?
My recommendation is the Steigenberger Hotel Stuttgart. That is where we will meet on Saturday and Sunday for the people that want to head to the festival together. There are also other (cheaper) options in the area:
Hotel Motel One Stuttgart-Mitte
Hotel Motel One Stuttgart-Hauptbahnhof
Anything in proximity to the Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station) will be easiest. Stuttgart is quite busy during the festival so book your rooms early as hotels often sell out!
When should I arrive?
My suggestion would be to arrive on Friday. The tent will give away our seats if we are more than 20 minutes late. In other words, please meet us at the tent or downtown but on time.
How do I get into the tent?
Easiest option: meet me at the Steigenberger and I'll hand out the wristbands. Alternatively, please contact me and I'll figure out a way to somehow give you one before your arrival
Wristbands are REQUIRED to even enter the tent on Saturday!
What else is there to do in Stuttgart?
Many things! For some ideas:
Wilhelma (one of the best zoos in Germany)
Porsche Museum
Rent a Porsche and drive on the Autobahn (no speed limits!)
Mercedes Museum
You're also close to Munich, Frankfurt, the Black Forest etc. Make a vacation out of this! Note that the Porsche and Mercedes museum are closed on Mondays. In general, most stores in Germany are closed on Sundays.
What should I wear?
My suggestion is to buy a "Dirndl" for the ladies and some "Lederhosen" for the guys. Amazon sells them in the US. Alternatively wear casual clothing. The tent gets quite warm!
Can I bring my kids?
On Saturday the tents are strictly 18+. Sorry.
Kids are welcome to the lunch on Sunday! If you plan on bringing your kid(s) please let me know ASAP!
